Son Of Beast is going nowhere. With the addition of Firehawk, Kings Island was very busy. For the ride, they removed the loop and added a track to connect. Currently they are smoothening the track and adding new and lighter G-trains to make the ride a more enjoyable experience. Some ride ops there hear rumord about it opening either soon, or later this year. I'd give it a while though, considering it is a rather rough ride. I guess in time, we'll see! :)

the wooden loop will be removed (sad *tear*) due to it injuring 8 people early last july after cedar fairs had owned the park for less that one week. Park officals I have spoken with personally say the ride will stay but the loop will be removed. I personally believe this is because Cedar Fairs' Inc. does not want Kings Island to have any worlds record holding coasters. They want all the world records at there flag ship park Cedar Point

I believe that Kings Island bought the Hurricane Category 5 (defunct coaster from Myrtle Beach) and are putting them on Son of Beast.
They have already removed the loop, but are hoping that the lighter cars will put less pressure on the coaster.
But they most definitely will not be taking it out.

They've already removed the loop from the track and I believe they are working on replacing the heavy trains with lighter trains from an old coaster. The lighter trains will be better for the wooden coaster as it will cause less stress on the tracks and the wood supports.
It's a shame they removed the loop. It was the only wooden coaster with a loop, and while I never got a chance to ride it, it looked awesome.

I think they are going to take it down because it's injured so many people and killed a few. No offense, but they were stupid for creating a wooden loop roller coaster with no shoulder restraints. :)
