First of all you need to look under the hood for a tag that will tell you if the car is using R-12 or R-134a. If it uses R-12 and it may because most cars used it up to 95. If it does use R-12 it may be difficult to find a shop that still has any. If it uses R-134a you can buy a charge kit at a parts store. I would HIGHLY recommend that you have a mechanic put gauges on it to see if you have pressure in the system. If you do then you have other problems. If not, then the system has a leak that should also be repaired. If you do have R-134a than you will charge it from the low side. The fittings on the high and low side are different sizes so you can't hook up wrong regardless. Follow the directions with the charge kit. Be aware that the system requires a certain amount that is usually listed in pounds. Also, any AC work should be performed by a certified technician. This is my wifes log in. I have been a mechanic for 15 years.

On the passenger side of the car just in from the fender in the engine compartment, you'll see an aluminum line with a cap like you see on the end of a tire stem. It will have a small plastic cap on it that screws off.

The freon (or whatever refrigerant you're using) goes in there. Make sure you use a pressure gauge so you don't over fill it.

first of all,i believe your 94 caprice will use r-134.when you say freon, dont use r-12.the can of r-134 you purchased has a built in adapter.if your car book doesnt show you where its at,go to a place like auto-zone to buy your r-134 and someone there, will show you where is goes, for free.
