If you follow the NFL at all, you would know about Tank Johnson, Pacman Jones, Chris Henry, and Terrell Owens. With all of the negative news buzzing around these ill-moraled celebrities, good players - even well-known ones - can be ignored. However, word of their good-doing still escapes even if it is forgotten. Can you name some of these players? Name as many as you can, even if it is just one.

I'm going to have to agree with the guy who said that the list would be too long. It's a shame that we're bombarded with all the bad things that a few players are doing when there are many more that are doing great things for their communities and hometowns. It's a shame that Titans fans like me have to hear about everything Pacman is doing when Vince Young just established a charity organization to help in Tennessee and his hometown of Houston. Almost all of the players that have played for the Saints since Katrina have done more than anyone will ever give then credit for to rebuild that community as well as many players from that region (Peyton Manning, Steve McNair, and Brett Favre to name a few that I know of) And I'm sure that's the same in every other NFL city. If you want to see a good list of good-moralled NFL players, I've attatched a wikipedia article on the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, this is given to the NFL player who has done the most to help his community and each team submits one player for consideration (I couldn't find anything listing the players from every team, but the attatched article lists the winners)
Basically, the short version is that, like with any group of people as diverse as the NFL, there will be good people and there will be screw-ups, and unfortunately the media has decided that the screw-ups create more of a stir, but to me it does seem like there are many more NFL players doing good than there are screwing up, you just have to look a little harder for the good guys.

Kansas City Chiefs Will Shields, Tony Gonzalez, Eddie Kenison, Priest Holmes, Brian Waters, Casey Weigman, Head Coach Herm Edwards and many other Chiefs, all are members of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and have serious charitable organizations in Kansas City for things like Lupus, Down Syndrome, Big Brothers and Big Sisters Etc. Former Chief Tony Richardson, now a Viking was also very active in the fellowship and in multiple charities. The Late Derrick Thomas launched Literacy Programs that President Bush Sr. listed as one of his 50 points of light for the future.
Warren Moon was also active prior to and while playing for the Chiefs at the end of his career.
It is a shame that guys like Pac Man and Tank get the press and taint many peoples opinion of the modern day athlete. There are hundreds of good moraled NFL players, they just don't make news.

Walter payton -Great man, touched a lot of people, I remembered the day he died, I called my mother!
Art Monk - humble, professional, selfless, hard working, perfect role model ( micheal irvin HOF.. what a joke )
Darrell Green - has many youth foundations
Warrick Dunn - creates opportunities for single mother to own homes.
Joe Delaney - Amazing person, gave up his life to save 3 drowning kids, he didn't even know how to swim. Only saved one, but he lost his life trying to save the others.
Derrick Thomas - I'm not sure about Thomas, but I got a feeling he was a good guy.
Jim Brown - works with gang members to help stop the cycle
Dan Marino - Foundations
Art Rooner-owner - Respected his players, gave out dollar bills to neighorhood children. Thats so cool.
Jim Kelley - Foundations
There are more, but I think I shined some light on how some of the good ones.

Believe it or not there are more good guys then there are bad. The media just doesnt like to report on those things. A few years ago Ray Lewis was charged with murder and was proven innocent but people still bring that up before they bring up the fact that he does a lot of charity work in the Baltimore area and in his hometown. Its sad.

I'm not going to name all the players that would be on your GOOD LIST, not enough room for that. Brett Favre has a charity softball game every year. He and his wife raise money to fight breast cancer every year, Other players donate money for every touchdown they score, every touchdown pass. Good guys like this are always in the NFL, you don't hear about it because they don't go around patting themselves on the back. Plain and simple, when you're good you're good!
