I don't believe any politician turns down opportunities for fun...only the ones on someone's sh!t list make the papers.
My sources to know come from an experience I had in Graduate school. One of my collegues came to me and said, "I know you're having financial difficulties and there isn't any need for that! They are having political conventions in (huge city not mentioned) and a lot of girls from our department are going. Me and a couple of guys are going to make sure every one pays. Do you want to come?"
My answer was, "What makes you think I'd say yes to a proposition like that?" and he said, "Because you're not only pretty, you're smart." My reply was, "That's true but I'm not healthy enough to keep from throwing up when I see first hand the hypocracy that is going on in our government."
He shut up but I had already had an ear full and knew what my fellow female co-eds were doing in said "Huge City". I don't think any politicians turned anyone down from my university. Repugnacans or Democraps.
