I'm 13. She recently found out that I wear some of her makeup that she doesn't use and says i'm too young to wear it. The makeup I wear is concealer for the dark circles and bags under my eyes(how do you get rid of those?!) and lip gloss. I don't wear anything else. My mom also likes the ugliest haircuts. I like layers, but she loves and wants me to cut my hair with thick bangs and evened hair(like one of those old-fashioned Chinese ladies sorry if I offended you). My legs, arms, and armpits are hairy(-_-) and she won't let me buy any hair remover or get it waxed. During P.E., I have to change into shorts. I try to sag them, but my legs still show. I have to use my dad's electric razor and I hate shaving. My mom has some tweezers, but she hides them so I won't use them. I can see that other girls wear eyeshadow, lipstick, blush, and all that stuff. This girl I know got her eyebrows waxed. If their parents let them do that, why can't my mom let me? This isn't fair! What should I do?

I'm 15 and my mom is the same way but just tell her talk to her and say like, "i wanna use eyeliner because i just want to accent my eyes." my mom didn't buy it but now i get to wear eyeliner and mascara each month it gets more better. just show her that you are a responsible person and you CAN take care of yourself because she is just trying to keep you young and i guess she doesn't want to let that go. just remind her of the time she was that age ask her "what would you tell your mom?" she will probably understand that you are growing up and it was going to happen sooner or later...

OMG! I had the same problem when I was thirteen. My mom MADE me wear the ugly bangs! My mom is still the same way about makeup, NONE FOR ME, so I can't help you with that. But, I happen to be a very hairy person as well, and let me tell you, shaving is the BEST option! I think waxing SUCKS! I went to get my eyebrows waxed for the first time on my 15th bday, and they looked horrible. I think that moms are just overprotective and don't want us to grow up fast. But if you really want to do it, try to talk to your mom, and see if she will compromise. If not, don't rush it. And my mom always says that "I'm not everybody else's mom, so you aren't gonna do what everybody else does." Its just the way they are. Trust me, you ARE NOT ALONE on this situation, though it may feel like it. Hope this helps you!!

first, you are so pretty i can just tell, and i know your thinking, ugh what do you know? everyone's telling you that you're too young, and that may be true, but if you want to...

1. tell your mom that you understand makeup isn't something that will get in the way of your everyday life, and school. tell her you jsut want to feel nice adn fresh when you go to school.

2. disguises, wear sheer makeup, lipgolss, light eyeshadow, something that makes you look fresh and pretty but doesn't make your parents crazy.

3. if you have any problems with applying the makeup, just think, what do i really want to look like and it will just come to you.

4. use raesera, which is like nair, but t doesn't smell as bad, i think shaving is fine, ust shave your armpitts, and legs, tell your mom, even show your mom you pitts, i know dsgusting but maybe she'll think so too and let you shave.

5. comprimise, don't get a extremely trendy look with layers, and wisps, but ask your stylist about angling the front of your face, so that it frames your face, nothing on the back just something in the front.

good luck, and know that makeup is actually bad for your skin and if you read some of these yahoo answers and questions, you'll see that so many people say not to use alot of makeup

Aww...that's crazy she won't let you shave. I understand her makeup concerns (you see all these girls dressing like prostitutes at 12 and 13 years old and wearing heavy makeup), but concealer and lip gloss is not something she should try to keep you from. Bangs and blunt cuts aren't cute. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders and know your age and what's appropriate. You must be her first or oldest daughter :-) My mother was the same way with me - I wasn't allowed to wear makeup until I was 14 except gloss and concealer, but she let me cut my hair as I wanted and let me shave as soon as it bothered me.
Simply ask her why won't she let you wear makeup? Explain that you aren't trying to go overboard with liner and shadow and mascara, just gloss and concealer. You just are embarrassed during gym when you have to show hairy legs and arms. You don't like the way you look because the haircuts she chooses for you make you feel ugly and you want something to make you feel pretty. She should understand those things...

I can understand where your coming from...

I can definately understand the shaving part... But must you use your dad's razor? That is a great way to spread diseases... and if he found out, he would be pissed off...

why dont you save up like 15 dollars and go to the store and buy a few cheap BIC razors, and some shaving gel... and just hide it all so your mom doesnt find them...

The lipgloss is normal... you shouldnt have a problem with that... it is like wearing chapstick...

but the makeup is a different story...

your 13... do you really need it?
who is so important that they are going to care about it? your friends? why are you trying to impress them?

now when you get a few years older, and get a job, and start going to formal places, like the prom, banquets, dances, etc... or work, i can understand the makeup part... but for now, you dont need it...

especially if your wanting it to impress guys... if they dont like you without it, then they dont like you at all...

I used to have the same problem. I used to wear jeans in 90 degree weather, just so my legs wouldn't show. I would do anything just not to show certain areas. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore and sat down with my mom and told her everything. Tell your mom that you wouldn't wear too much makeup just make it natural. Light makeup like bare minerals and Naturals are great. Explain to your mother that you get really embarrassed about the hair on your legs. Don't sound like you are offending her though. Just gently talk her into it and make changes gradually.

There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

To hide dark circles, you can use YSL concealer or salmon concealer..

well ur moms obviously old fashioned...so is my dad...my mom lets me and hes a guy so he cant really tell the difference wen i remove/wax/shave my hair......anyway try to compromise with ur mom..and if ur embarrased about the shorts 4 now just use pants....my mom on the other hand likes my layer cut and brought me waxing strips!!

anyway my point is all moms are different and if u cant work it out with ur mom once u leave her house(that doesnt mean run away!!) u can do wutevr u want so just wait...and then u can have the full "makeover" and ull gain a lot of self confidence at once

Your mother has reasons for why she's been this way, she probably realizes that girls who are allowed to start "fixing" themselves at this age are more prone to finding flaws with themselves later and would probably be the ones begging for plastic surgery by the time their 17 because make-up can only keep you feeling beautiful for a short time when you've been wearing it for years, you'll start looking for permanent solutions. You need to build more confidence in yourself before you start doing all this beautifying things, your only 13 and I do not know why you should care so much about your appearance.
