I say Kobe Bryant. My proof?
Just watch how he bakes Bruce Bowen (dirty, but amazing defender) in this video (respectively):

I don't like Kobe, and his downfall is that he's not a good team player, but in a 1 on 1 situation, he's always the go to player.

I honestly believe if the NBA held a huge 1 on 1 competition with every player competing, the winner would end up being Garnett. He is agile enough to get past slower big men, powerful enough to get past faster big men, stronger than small men, can handle the ball very well for a man his size, plays very good perimeter defense for a man his size. Kobe would probably end up beating him if it was loser takeout, but if it was winner, if Kobe missed one shot he would never be able to get the rebound and KG would just back him down everytime.

best perimeter 1-on-1 player (hardest to guard)
1. Kobe Bryant (an arsenal of moves and super quick first step)
2. LeBron James (not only is he quick, he's also super strong)
3. Dwyane Wade (strong, quick first step, nice crossover and change of directions makes him hard to guard
4. Tracy McGrady (plays like Kobe, except he's longer, so he can shoot over smaller defenders)
5. Steve Nash (don't be fooled by his looks; he's heady and very good with the ball)
6. Gilbert Arenas

Im in the majority here. It's Kobe. He can score on anyone in the league. He plays very good perimeter D too.
LeBron James is the only player I can see giving him trouble. James is bigger and stronger than Kobe and just as quick.

As much as I LOATHE one-on-one play and I love passing and teamwork, I have to admit that Kobe Bryant is the best one-on-one player in the game today.
Too bad championships are won by TEAMS.

Kobe Bryant hands down. Only player that can take him is MJ. Yao Ming, are you phuckin serious, he would trip on his own feet trying to block Kobe, and I'm not a fan of either.

On the lebron vs kobe video.. they didn't defend eachother. kobe is the best one on one player because he can score with a guy right up in your face very easily that is a must in one on one ball.

Watch this video and tell me who plays better.

Lebron took half the number of shots, shot over 50%, and scored more than Kobe did. They defended each other too. Which team won?
But I don't know. D-Wade might be able to beat Lebron.

I agree. Kobe is the best one-on-one player in the league.
But basketball is a five-on-five game.
