Son of G (below) Michigan's auto industry has been gutted by poor, corporate leadership. The CEOs make millions while laying off workers in MI by the thousands.

Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan and Wisconsin

These are the Five States that have not posted a budget surplus this year.

Guess what they have in Common?

Democrat Governors.

So since your question is based on a false premise, I elect to answer it with a counter question, why don't the 5 democrat governors with a budget deficit, make up the short falls, with an increase in their state's tax rates?

Honestly, check your facts before trying to a point, you'll appear earnest instead of childish.

Who cares; both parties are at fault. If you feel for one second that the Dems are more fiscally responsible why haven't they passed reform for "pork spending"....could be that they don't want to cut of the utter to spite their face.

All of you in the middle lets form a new political party and we'll call it the "Normal party" and its views will be voted upon by the masses. Whatever the masses think the party will stand for....not the other way around. Whose with me?

Because they're not fiscal gurus. Taxation is nothing more than a state-sponsored mugging. You don't pay, they send a guy with a gun to your house to kidnap you and place you in a box with iron bars.

You don't have to be a Wall Street whiz to figure out how to mug people.

Where did you get these "statistics"...pull them form thin air?

And...Michigans auto industry has been decimated by Organized Labor. The unions priced themselves out of jobs with their exhorbiant wage and benefits demands. They wanted to try and keep their cushy, overpaid jobs while the rest of the world stayed competitive. They have no one to blame for the lay-offs but themselves.

Texas is trying to figure out how to spend it's BILLIONS in surplus money...which states are you referring to?

"Texans are fair and reasonable people, and if we have a huge surplus, I think most of them would say, 'Let's set some aside because we never know what the future holds. And let's take some of it and address specific crucial needs,' " he said.

"But most of it should come back to us. Because government never fails at spending every dollar we send them. And, quite frankly, there could be a $30 billion surplus and there would be people saying we shouldn't send any back."

Really, chi guy? Which ones are those? Someone as bright as you surely can back that assertion up... as to your way of thinking... you're right, we should tax and tax, and then create new programs we don't have funding for, and then tax and tax some more.
