My two computers (laptop and desktop) comes with a wireless adapter (from Intel). I wanna buy a wireless router. Does it has to be from Intel as well so that the adapter are "matched" with the router? Thanks.

No the brand doesn't have to match. The only difference is the speed of cards and routers are the speed. You will want to check what speed your router is so you buy the right speed. You don't want to spend the money on a faster adapter that you can't use. The most common speed now is G.

Technically you do not need matching equipment, as long as all comply to the same standard eg: 80211G or N.
I would look around at say Belkin, Netgear, etc and stick with the bigger known brands.

A good idea is to have ethernet ports on the router for using network cables when you have a laptop without a wireless connection etc. If you have a networkable printer you can then attach this to the router.

you do not have to have the same manufacturer. the only thing you need to worry about is the wireless standard. if your computer has a 802.11g card, then make sure you get a 802.11g router.
