I think what South America needs is self determination. The US has covertly, and not so covertly, influenced politics there for far too long. If socialism is what it takes, more power to them!

incredibly, this u . s . replaced into succeeding particularly nicely, being the optimal producing u . s . interior the international for some years below Capitalism. It replaced into whilst socialist rules have been enacted that the country began to nosedive right into a recession because of the fact the socialists try too difficult to tax the individuals who artwork for what they have, to pay for the lazy who do no longer artwork for something and choose for each thing for loose. there is not any longer something incorrect with procuring a television, or getting a private loan or something like that, if it is your determination and additionally you and in undemanding terms you are going to be held responsible for it. the concern is all of us is blaming different individuals for their issues and letting somebody else anticipate the accountability, contained in relation to the housing marketplace, they're letting the banks take in the slack for what they did no longer pay on their foreclosed homes. Socialism would not help this in any respect, because of the fact socialism could in undemanding terms help if all of us replaced into content textile being the comparable individual and having the comparable issues no remember what your guy or woman pastimes are or what you do. finally, somebody could become capitalist and detect a thank you to become wealthier. Socialism in undemanding terms enables the individuals who're presently in power, as they could stay wealthy, and actual all of us else could could resign something for the backside portion of the inhabitants which does no longer even make the attempt to function on their very own.

There is no such thing as pure socialism or pure capitalism, thank god. Hugo Chavez has done a lot for his country's economy, so I'm sure he'll be around awhile or until the CIA kills him.

Rampant Socialism, if left unchecked, will be the downfall of Latin America.
Did they learn nothing from the debacle and downfall of Soviet-bloc Eastern Europe?
History has a nasty way of repeating itself sometimes, I'm afraid. At least they can't say we didn't warn them!

No, Latin America is forging its own failure. It saddens me because I'm from South American and I hope the day doesn't come when the United States has to take action against my native country.

It may have a short term future...whatever short term means. But it will fail long term. Socialism doesn't have a good track record.

Many European countries use mix systems. The extremes in both systems are dangerous.

It will eventually fail. Look at the USSR. You take away motivation and you get mediocrity, at best.
