I'm a Big 10 guy and love that conference, but how can anyone deny that the SEC reigns supreme in college football? They produce the most pros, national champions, and because college football is so passionate down south, every road game is tough, whether it's Ole Miss or Alabama, or Tennessee, or whomever.

The SEC no doubt. Besides everything everyone else pointed out;
Most national champions since 1933 (first year of SEC) 21.
Only conference without a losing record against all the other major conferences in bowl games.
Overall a winning record against every major conference except the Big 10 (87-94). But when you know that 62 of those losses came against Vandy, Kentucky (31 losses by themselves), South Carolina, Mississippi, and Miss St. Against Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida , and Arkansas the Big 10 is 32 wins and 51 losses.
The SEC was chosen best conference of each decade since the 30s except 1. They were easily the best choice of best conference of all time. You people who said the Big East have got to be joking. WOW they had an undefeated bowl season. How many games? Against who? Not to mention they have a losing record against ALL the major conferences.
To loanmasterone we get it. You are a big USC fan. Good for you. I like the Trojans myself when they aren't playing Bama or another SEC team. But the question is about which conference is the best not just 1 team. If you want to compare teams what is USCs all time record against Bama? 2-5 ring a bell. Anyway no 1 team is always good. I do believe the facts reflect the SEC is the best conference. Best team? That question will never be resolved. Good luck to you!

SEC.
Top to bottom, it's a very competitive conference, typically has the most Top 10 and Top 25 teams when the season is over. The Big 10, Big 12 and Pac 10 have very good top teams, but after the first 1-2 teams, the quality drops off significantly.

The PAC-10 by far. Since no one can make the schedule the year before, schedules are made long in advance. The Pac-10 has knocked the SEC around in all the games they have played against the SEC. USC has beaten Arkansas twice by wide margins, Auburn and wasn't that an away game for SC and didn't Auburn lose by a big score.
I am tired of this SEC is better.
Someone mentioned that some SEC team beat Notre Dame. SC has beaten Notre Dame 5 years in a row and last year they came into the LA coliseum with their highly rated QB and got their heads handed to them.
Michigan showed up for the Rose Bowl. They are still talking to themselves. A few years ago the big-12 sent a team called Oklahoma to Florida with their 5th yr QB, a highly regarded RB we laid 50 points on them. So what ever the conference you play in you have to take each game for what it is.
Now last year was a rebuilding year for USC. A 9-3 lost to UCLA kept us from playing for a national championship 3 yrs in a row.
You don't play conference against conference and then add the points up. I am willing to bet that a 3-5 team in the SEC would have just as much chance of beating a 3-5 team in the PAC-10 as a 10-1 team from either conference would have against a 10-1 team from the other conference.
I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

SEC, no question
the reason SEC teams havent won as many championships or bowl games as any other conference is because every team in the SEC has a tough schedule... it is SOOOOO hard to get less than 2 losses when playing in the SEC. Every year an SEC team will play 5 or 6 tough games
#1 SEC = Florida, LSU, Tenn., Bama, Arkansas, Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina(since Steve Spurrier) are all good and maybe 1 will be just OK
#2 Big 10 = OSU, Mich. and either Wisc. or PSU
#3 Pac-10 = USC and either ASU, UCLA, or Oregon are good

First to respond to the pac 10 remark The top teams in the Pact 10 USC, UCLA, And maybe CAL can play in any conference and still be sucessfull, the toughest conference in the nation is the SEC the eastern divison has 3-5 teams that have a legit chance at the divison title. the West has 3-4 good teams as well

the SEC is by far the best conference. they had 7 teams ranked at one point last season and they are the toughest conference top to bottom. they have the most overall talent in the country with the most speed and the better athletes. and if u notice almost nobody repeats as conference champ and that due to the depth of it. they would win more national titles but they beat up on each other so its almost impossible to come out undefeated and nowadays thats almost a necessity as it seems at leats one team goes undefeated every year

Big 10, in my opinion, is the best conference. Most of the teams do very well all season until the playoffs. Michigan and Ohio State for example. Awesome teams during the season (top ten all season) they just fall apart in the playoffs.
