Hmm, well I don't really see the difference in 5 and 6 except for a few small differences. Well if tou trust the classmate and their parents then why not, it's a nice experience that I never got to do.

The main thing about letting them sleepover is if you know the parents well and feel they are trustworthy.. I let my daughter have her first sleepover at 5. with a parent i knew well and could trust.. over the years my other daughter has had a couple of sleepovers with parents i knew .. my son hasnt gotten a sleepover yet. his friends parents i didnt trust to keep an eye on him...those parents would show up to baseball games drunk.. so you get the picture.. pretty much its about knowing who there staying with and if those parents are responsible enough.. if you do decide to let your child go i would suggest you go threw your rules with the child before she goes and make sure she understands them..send her with a cell phone and teach her how to call you . kids are great about calling and asking permission if you stay open on the point of following rules and dont do certian things without my permission.. letting them know they can always ask.......mother of 3 kids now age 12,11,10...and a mom who as a child never had friends over or sleepovers nor could i ever go to a friends house...

let her go... and DONT embarrass her. you're her daddy, she's ur baby girl, and you love her and dont want anything to happen to her.
you may think that she wont even care about being embarrassed cuz she's "only 5", but wen i went to my first sleepover, my dad came into the house with me, talked to the parents for about half an hour, and checked all the smoke detectors. i was probably about 5 too, and to this day, i am horrified of the memory, and my bff refuses to let it slide.
PLEASE, be cautious of your daughter's feelings.
also, if you are unsure about it, have her friend sleep over at your house first, and then maybe next week at hers. after you meet the parents and the friend, you will feel much better about it (however, dating is a different story lol).
good luck!

My daughter is 7 and I just let her do that. I did it when I was 6. It should be o.k. as long as you talk to the parents first and feel comfortable with them.

I say you should let her go, she can meet people and possible get to know some people better. Most sleep overs are fun, but when I went to my first sleep over when I was almost 10, I didn't know what to do since I didn't go when i was younger.

I think you should let her go. I had my first sleepover at 5. Just be sure to meet the parents and make sure they have your telephone number.
