Do you sunburn red or sunburn brown?

I spent a few hours in the sun to do something and I'm like 2 shades darker. I'm so pissed why did I forget to buy sunscreen yesterday?

Brown. Everyone thinks I'm lucky, too, but I feel so thoroughly baked--and when someone burns red, people at least know not to touch them!

I am ghost white (thanks to my father's dominant Irish blood--blonde hair/blue eyes) and all I do is burn beet red like a lobster, then peel and go back to being white, with the palest tan you've ever seen (just enough to see that I've been burned).
My son on the other hand is half-black and burns red but the next day he is brown as anything and never peels. He has about 1/16 Indian blood in him too so he gets a beautiful shade of that brown with the red-undertone. And he's a Lifeguard so he's UBER-TAN in the summer!!

red, i look like a lobster for like a week, then im back to being extremely pale. it sucks, i never look tan.
