You do not use a scope for a meteor shower ... here's a schedule

I'm an amateur astronomer in Ohio.

The telescope is something that you should have fun with and use, but actually the naked eye is a better tool for amateur astronomy. You will find the telescope to be useless for a meteor shower. Stuff's moving to fast and the telescope will only get in the way.

Anyway, to answer your question, the Perseid meteor shower comes up in late July or early August, and that's probably the next major one, although there may be a smaller one or two in between. The Perseid often delivers a good show. It's visible all over the earth, although a certain place and time will have the best viewing opportunities.

Check out nasa.gov to see if they have meteor shower information, or use "perseid meteor shower" on a search engine. You should get lots of useful hits.

Also, if you're close enough, check out the Sandusky Valley Area Astronomy Club in Tiffin, Ohio. They probably will have a viewing for it, in addition to their regular viewing every month.

Best of luck,
Kevin

You don't need a telescope for meteors!

Next best one is mid-August Perseids
