Do you believe Jesus and Buddha was the same prophet but sent to earth at a different place and time to spread god's message. They both were of virgin birth, suffered with tempation for 40 days and nights, talked about loving one another, had 12 followers, had a last supper, was killed and then raised from the grave. Also both their teachs were almost parralle. I am a hardcore christian but when to heard other's opinions.

Actually Buddha did raise the dead, walked through walls, and walked on water 500 years before Jesus was around.

My Friends... I am a Buddhist and there are many misconceptions here. The asker has much erroneous information and many of the answers are erroneous as well. Let me suggest to you to complete a brief study of Buddhism to find out the basic concepts and the life story of Buddha. You will find it interesting and the Buddha doesn't create any strife among other faiths.

Yes, it is true that Shakyamuni Buddha and Jesus shared many similarities, though the Buddha never claimed to be or do anything of a divine nature, and he encouraged his students to challenge his teachings, to make independent evaluations and decisions for themselves.

But perhaps more importantly - are Jesus and Buddha the same? Yes, as are you and I and all those in between.

I think you need to read about Buddha's life a little more. It is well known who his parents were, his wife and child and the story of Buddha's enlightenment was not at all like Jesus Christ's story. But yes, I think they were both prophets of the Divine.

The Buddha never did anything divine at all. He was a real person (as in - he was human, through and through).

There are actually 2 people credited to being the Buddha. The fatter Buddha statue you will see in Asian resaraunts and such represents the sect that follows Gotama, and they worship him as a god-like figure.

The thinner one (as seen in The Last Samurai in certain scenes) is Siddhartha. He is seen as a prophet with great teachings. This sect believes "God" dwells within each and every individual.

You've gotta understand that the devil will always try to bring out something to compare to what God has done. Especially all these creation theories. I'm not saying Buddah was evill or sent by the devil but he's definately someone the devil uses to distract people from the sacrifice Christ made. He came to be an example and show unconditional love.NOBODY not even Buddah can even come close to comparing to Jesus.

no. you need to do some more reading, that is not the story of Lord Buddha. christianity was evolved from the Mithric traditions of persia. it was Mithra born of a virgin, the son of god.
