Can I plant zoysia grass or any other kind of grass if I am clearing the woods floor?

If there are a lot of pine and other evergreen trees, it's chances of being acidic would be greater. Acidity and ph can vary greatly from area to area, so it would be better for you to get the soil tested for your particular area, to be sure. You might also ask your local county agricultural agent, if you have one.

Here is the planting zones for zoysia. You can purchase a soil test kit almost anywhere that seel garden supplies. They are not expensive. The soil PH can vary even on the same property.

zoysia? is that the warm wheather grass that completely browns out off season? Each grass has different pH requirements and you can find the pH of any soil with a small pH testing kit sold at most garden shops for a few bucks. very simple and quick to use...

Call your county extension officer or the nearest agriculture college. They will either tell you how to test if for yourself, or they may come test it for you. They will also be the best people to tell you about what will grow there.

any soil with lots of decaying organic matter will be acidic.
