The 5:1 ratio that I see posted here all the time is also a load of crap. When I served it wasn't true, when my Dad served it wasn't true and it's not true now. A very large portion of our military is made up of working poor and minorities and if you think they are all Conservative you're fooling yourself. Most military members don't have strong political views to begin with and they certainly aren't going to answer any questions about their politics accurately while their commanding officers are within earshot.

When I was in the USAF about one-third of my squadron said they were GOP, one-third Dem and one-third either had no preference or didn't like politics. The officers always supported the orders given, so when those orders were given by a Dem POTUS, they tended to be more Dem, when it was a GOP POTUS, they were GOP. Army Retired and Erudite are fulla CRAP. They are the kind of people who would TALK so much that most troops would agree with them just so they'd SHUT UP.

If what other posts are saying is true about conservatives in the military, why have many more Democrats in congress served than Republicans? Plus, the Bush Administration has lied so many times, why should we belive anything they say now?

The actual number is about 75-80% of military votes going to Republican candidates. The only question is if voting results are a valid sample space for the overall military population.
But regardless.. there is a very good reason Al Gore tried to block military votes from being counted in Florida.

I believe there are a lot more conservatives than liberals. At least on here, it seems that most liberals are anti-war and therefore have no interest in serving. I also think that a lot of military members have strong political views, though they may be not be encouraged to express them.

I know while I was in (late 80's into the 90's) many of the guys I served with expressed conservative view points. Have no clue what the ratio was if you can even tag someone with being a liberal or conservative. I have opinions that go with both camps but consider myself to the right of center for what its worth.

i'm happy you compromise. No Socialism. permit's verify that would not ensue, alongside with what President Bush did. not extra socialism. human beings, do you spot how one poster defends it, yet another denies it, anhother says, "that is basically a sprint socialism, what are you petrified of?" i've got heard it for 40 years. sufficient nonsense. it is their final stand. After this, socialism is demise. the two they gain those 4 years, or that is over with the aid of fact they have heavily overreached themselves. i decide for my occasion back. deliver the socialist back to their very own occasion. No socialist u . s . has EVER supported the freedoms my occasion fought for, ever. in case you doubt that socialism is alive and correctly, in simple terms pass back and examine the background of the Socialist occasion of yank and their plans for the Democrat occasion (my occasion). They stated that they had use it as their face to united statesa.. some human beings have been pointing to it and warning you ever in view that.

it doesn't matter.
the military isn't about politics. soldiers don't usually have too many political views that concern their jobs.
and most are moderate and pick a party just so they can have some affiliation (third parties aren't really taken to seriously sadly).
you are right, soldiers have to be quiet about what they believe some times.

Based on 20 yrs active duty, that ratio doesn't sound accurate to me either.
I do believe there are more conservatives than liberals in the military, simply because the type of personality that tends to be conservative also thrives in a structured, disciplined environment - hard to find those in our society outside the military.
