I have a 2005 Chevy Impala problem. Check engine light is on. A OBD II tester discovered a (power train 507) code. I don't have a book to decifer this and I can't find a web site that lists this code.

Yes out of warranty-we bought the car used. I did find another problem code tool web site that did indicate and inginition problem-but didn't know if different tester brand codes meant the same thing.

Check Amazon, search: "autel scan tool". They have everything from $18. up to $1300. Chances are, "every problem your car has" that you need to, or are able to fix can be accessed with one of these for under $250. I bought the $18. unit just to keep in my glove box and it has come in very handy just for reading and clearing codes. If you have a Mercedes and you want all mode access with programming capability, crack open your wallet.
