On my slightly rusted chrome wheels i use an SOS pad, it wont scratch the finish but it will get them clean. Then a good coat off car wax to follow to help protect them .
Others may disagree bit it will not scratch them, just try a small area and take a look. And -no- the sos didnt cause the rust, the neighbor hood cats did that.

Stop by your local auto parts store.They have special cleaners made to clean chrome rims safely and are eazy to use.Best of luck.

go to your near by parts store and ask for crome rim cleaner and spray it on one rim then rinse it off and dry with a clean rag thanks fredf

if its chrome rims you can actually use automotive paint thinner on them......don't use acid............use can also use a mild degreaser but don't leave it on too long it will damage them........i ususally use thinner but then wipe them with a wax afterwards..

Replace the timing belt.
They are notorious for breaking.
Then you have a realy expensive repair.

soap and water is the safe way,you don't want to use to many chemicals on your wheels you can do permanent damage
