I agree with Aunt Bertha. Child sex predators and terrorists are a lost cause and should be locked up for good. Neither can control the impulses that lead to them committing atrocious crimes.

Your cousin Vinnie has the same ideas that Bush has. He thinks that the Sunnis will stop killing our guys just because we gave them lots of guns. Pretty smart guy you got there in the White House. Arming the terrorists will certainly end terrorism !?!

Well, since it's actually happened, I'd have to say yes, they can.
BTW, torture is NOT a method for doing this.
There's a judge in -- I can't remember what country -- who, with yet another young terrorist in his court, decided he needed to understand what was going on.
He brought the kid into chambers, and asked him WHY?
He let the kid talk, and kept hearing the Koran said so.
So, knowing it says no such thing, he got his copy of the Koran from the shelf, and showed the kid all the passages that forbid hurting non-combatants in war, especially women and children.
He turned the kid.
So after this, that's what he did.
When you turn a terrorist, not only is there one less terrorist in the world, but the give up their information.
Would this always work?
Probably not.
But each one is one more person working against terrorism.
