You may have accidentally inverted the colors. To fix this click on "Image" at the top of the screen and this click "Invert Colors". or you can just press Ctrl+ i. Saving the image as a Bitmap (BMP) will also cause this. You can not reverse that process.

You are saving your pictures as 16 colors. Unfortunately, your picture information is gone if you overwrote the original files.

Next time try clicking File and choose the "Save As" option. Look at the bottom for "Save as type:" and change the option to either "JPEG" (recommended) or "24-bit Bitmap" (uncompressed - will result in GIANT files)

Instead of using PAINT, try another program to view and edit your pictures. Your camera must have come with something!

Don't have a camera? Try downloading and installing PICASA for FREE from Google. It's WAY better than Paint.

Paint saves files as a BMP file and that's why it looks like a cartoon. Once it's saved, then there is nothing you can do
