Hi i have 2 computers, and i used a usb wireless adaptor called Trendnet TEW-424UB . Recently i found out that it stopped working and doesnt react the computer i use it with. I try it in different ports, and it doesn't happen either. I tried it on my other computer and it seems to work fine. I also used other usb items and tested them on the old computer, and they work fine. So is there any way to find what's wrong with it? has it been disabled or something?? Thanks

Sometimes USB ports loose their ability to provide enough power to USB devices. USB wireless adapters require more power. Sometimes you have to remove all other devices to get them to work. Other times, you have to find the appropriate USB 2.0 powered Hub that will supply enough power.

There should be ratings on these devices, as well as ratings on ports and groups of ports. In the old telephone days, such phone devices had a Ringer Equivalence rating; which could be used to rate telephone lines and combine devices.

Of course, you will notice that many cheap USB hubs don't pass power along to the devices, so they simply don't work through the hub.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

You didn't mention whether or not both computers are the same brand. I'd guess they're not. The usb driver for the Trendnet has some conflict errors with Dell and HP computers. The fastest way to resolve is to uninstall the device. Reboot the machine, then plug the device back in and see if it detects it. (Even if yours isn't a Dell or an HP, try the uninstall and see what happens). Sometimes if you install another usb device after a Trendnet, the Trendnet driver ends up being disabled.
Good Luck.

you should reinstall the hardware for the usb device on the old computer. check if you have the right usb (2.0 is the standard) on your old computer.

Make sure required drivers are installed. Go to the manufacturers website and check for updates.
