There are several "self-publishers" that will be very attentive to your every thought and whim. As long as you fork over the money!!!!!
You can tell that I'm not an advocate of self-publishing unless you have a great ego and loads of money to lose.
Do it the old-fashioned way, get "Writer's Market" from your local library and list every agent and publisher that handles your genre. Go onto the Internet and find each listing's submissions guidelines and follow them to the letter.
Don't be disappointed when you receive rejection slips (as you will), it more than likely has nothing to do with you or your book so don't take it personally. It's just another joy in the arena of rejection.

Good luck,

I have self-published a book titled Integrity: Do You Have It? 2nd edition. My publisher is Infinity Publishing. Their service and cooperation has been excellent. Any book can be a success if the author has the initiative to create an interest in it. The author must do the marketing and promotion. I personally would not recommend iuniverse.

The quality of the publishing with Infinity is excellent. I have no problem with the quality I have received. I have received positive complements for the design of my book cover. They have also been cooperative with working with me and any possibility of getting information to possible distribution sources such as QVC. They provided information to QVC that was required with no problem for them to evaluate my book. It was not chosen to promote as they are not doing any book sales at this point in time as they have not produced sales quantities to make it worthwhile. They stated they would keep the book for possible marketing in the future.

In choosing a publisher I have a free download which provides some guidelines on evaluating a publishing contract. It also offers information on marketing opportunities. You can find the free download on my site www.myqualitywriting.com. My site is also a resource for other authors to gain recognition for their work and provides links to a number of sites with great information and resources. There are also a number of articles by others and myself that may be an aid in your situation.

I universe is a vanity press. Their books are horribly printed, cheaply made and cost you a lot of money to produce. Self publishing does not count when it comes to making you a published author. Anyone with the money can self publish. If you wrote to an agent and told them you were a published author and that you published with I Universe, they would laugh and toss your letter into the paper shredder.

You need to learn to advocate for yourself and learn how traditional publishing works. I will repeat what I just told someone else.

People here have suggested self publishing to you. I advise you against it - strongly. Self publishing is just another name for vanity publishing. Anyone can publish anything they want that way as long as they can pay for it. It does not make you a published author. The average self published book sells about 100 copies. Mostly to family and friends. Only NINE self published books in history have made the best seller list. One was The Celestine Prophecy. It was a very remarkable book - which is why it sold. I would say that there have been probably over a million books self published and NINE became successful. Not very good odds. You will spend tons of money writing letters to bookstores trying to get them to sell your book. You will spend a ton more on internet advertising. Promoting your book will take up all of your time and you wont be able to write anything else. All for 100 copies. If you write an agent and tell them you are a self published author, they will laugh at you. It is a total waste of time and money.

You need to learn to advocate for yourself. You must become an expert in what you are writing about as well as an expert in how to publish. Start with a copy of Writers Market - it is our Bible. When you find an agent or publisher in there who is seeking work in the genre you write in, their listing will tell you what percentage of new authors they represent. Obviously the amount of "attention" you get will vary. Agents and publishers work most with what they consider the most likely authors to make them a lot of money.

Be prepared to give up a lot of your time and devote your life to trying to get published. Gone With the Wind was rejected 50 times. James Patterson was rejected over 70. Develop a thick skin and get ready to spend 7 days a week every week towards working on your goal. Authors alienate friends and family because they are too busy to bother with them. Getting published is a full time job. And add to that - only about 5% of authors actually earn a living writing. So dont plan on giving up your day job quite yet.

Then go to Resolved Questions here and print out a lot of answers and study them. There is a lot of great information and some totally useless information. Some of the information you have gotten was pretty misleading and downright bad. I am not steering you wrong.

Good luck. Pax - C
