I tend to be respectful automatically to certain groups because of the way I was raised, like older people, police officers, teachers, ministers of any faith, but I would have to say as individuals, what impresses me is kindness.

I once saw a little girl go out of her way to help a little boy playing in a pool. He couldn't get the sprinkler aimed on his back and she came up behind him, righted it, and went dancing and humming on her merry way. He never even knew that she did it! And she didn't expect anything in return. She was satisfied just to help and that made me respect her deeply.

At first glance I would think that someone in an unskilled job is less intelligent, but I would only place respect on how they are as an individual: are they caring, respectful, intelligent, creative people who I can have a good conversation with? I have high respect for many bus drivers because I have good conversations with them. I also have respect for some teachers, and I also have respect for pretty people (human nature I guess).

To me respect is mutual. I can have a lot easier time respecting someone minus their status, age, whatever if they respect me and my beliefs. It is always easy to respect someone who is similar to me, but when they say something that i totally disagree with or have an opinion i do not respect it comes down to their and my maturity, mutual respect, and ability to accept someone Else's ideas.

I feel it is correct to recognize a persons status amongst other humans. Their status of age, position and titles, and yes, wealth, is important. But the underlying aspect is that even though we give creedence to those things, respect is what we all seek and do to others.

I don't automatically respect anyone. I don't care about peoples' status, their age, how much they make, or what job they preform. I'm polite to people, but respect must be earned. If people are genuinely good, kind, honest people they are to be respected. I apologise if this comes across as rude to anyone, but it's how I feel.

The respect I give people comes only from the respect I give and have for myself.
My respect of another comes not for what they have, but for what they express. For the value they place on friendship, kindness, inner stregnth. As for "statis", I do respect the flower with that name.

People I REALLY respect? Anyone who I know has worked hard in life to get where they are, and have an occupation they love or just do things they love to do.
