brooke emma or brooke nicole i hate the name brooke!!!!!!! and i really dont want to name my daughter something from the top 100 name list.... any ideas for a name?? that is slightly similar to brooke so i dont upset her...

this is YOUR child, not your mothers. get your mother a dog and let her name it whatever....
you name your child whatever you like...your mom is grandma..her job is to spoil, not to name your children.

Or use Brooke as the second name, just for your mom, and pick a name you really like for your child's first name. After all, it is your daughter, not hers. You should have the last word as to the name of your own child! Mothers that over-interfere in their child's lives once they're grown up, are perhaps trying to live through their own children , some dream or goal that they never achieved for themselves. Though that is sad, they still should not impose their unfulfilled wants and needs on others, especially their own children. Like grow up, get over it, that's life! It's making you unhappy and that's not necessary!
There are so many beautiful names. Laurel Brooke. Shannon Noelle. Maxine Alaina. Margot Janelle. Lily Rose.
Rory Brooke.
Just pick the name for you and your child. Mom should back up. This is your time now. She had her day. What does your husband want also? You two should be deciding ultimately. Good luck!

I hope that you can talk with your mom and let her know that you appreciate her suggestion, but you don't really feel like that is the right name for your daughter. Even if she's upset at first, I'm sure she'll come around to love the name you choose almost as much as her beautiful granddaughter.
Maybe you can look at traditional baby naming books to look up the name Brooke, and you might find variations of the name from other cultures that are very different, but pretty. You could also get the book, The Baby Name Wizard. You can look up names and find connections to other names (good sibling names, or similar sounds, or nature names...). you might find one on one of those lists that you can both enjoy.

Why are you sooo interested in pleasing your mom by naming your child something she would like? It is your child!!! If you do not like the name Brooke, do not name your child that. I would like to know what name you like! : )

I hate the name Brooke too. Any name similar, you will probably also hate. It is your baby and the name should be chosen by you. Why don't you tell your mom that you are already writing a list of names YOU like and ask her to help you choose from it. That way, you get a name you like and mom doesn't feel left out.

Your mom should try to remember that this is your baby not hers and if she is so obsessed with the name maybe she should have named you that when she had the chance, I can't see how her feelings would get hurt if you went with your own mind and heart, the only other name I can think of is Brooklyn. Although, I would do yourself a favor and name your daughter the name you want, and if your set on making your mom so happy try Brooke for the middle name. My mother is not a fan of Gabriella, which is what I'll be naming my baby if I have a girl, she understands that its my choice not hers and she'll love the baby whether I name her Gabriella or one of her fave names

Why don't you just use brooke as the middle name and get a first name that you like. It's your child not your moms. It's not up to you to make your mom happy when it comes to your baby. Pick whatever you want
