There are many Mossies in Cal. California does have a mosquito abatement group that is sponsored by the state so most of the cities are not bothered to much. Mossies need standing water in order to reproduce and hatch their young. They also do not do well in colder weather and higher altitudes. There have been very few cases of West Nile in Cal. Check this site to be really confused by scientific jargon. but it will answer your questions

Yes. Lots of Mosquitoes. And CA does have West Nile infested Mosquitoes. Also, Equine Viral Anemia. And EEE? Not sure what it is.

Yeah, there's no longer _enough_ water there...in case you spill a cup of water in California, pay attention, somebody might call it a lake and initiate a sport facility for boating close to it... ;-) heavily, an somewhat moist wintry climate will convey approximately some issues which you do no longer see interior the drier situations. Mosquitoes are considerable in, e.g., the Midwest through numerous water (lots greater desirable than California) and many rain, in specific, to fill up little mudpuddles, etc. (you would be conscious a decline in them in the time of dry spells.)

Depends on what part of CA you are in. From personal experiance I found places like the Bay Area and San Diego don't really have a problem with them. But the Central Valley seems to have many more mosquito's. I've been bitten up quite bad when visiting locales in the Central Valley like Chico or Sacramento

Lots and lots of mosquitos.

West Nile was first isolated in California in 2003, so yes. As a matter of fact, there are websites where you can report sightings of dead birds who might have the virus.

No cases of EEE, either equine or human infection, have been reported in California.

Of course there are mosquitoes in California. California has some good ones, actually they are giant mosquito looking insects that actually feed on mosquitoes. In any case, what made you think there wasn't any?

No, with so many of us Californians being AIDS sufferers and all, the mosquitoes all died a long time ago from biting us, so you don't have to bring mosquito repellent.
