Lol. What do you say to your cat when he trips you up?
I think that animals understand emotion and intonation, and are very intuitive. For instance, one time when I was young, I was very sick and cried a lot. My cat became very subdued and would lie on my chest or curl around my head, and I believe he did it to comfort me.

I have a cat myself and throughout the past few years I've come to the conclusion that cats do understand what you're saying. sometimes my cat bites me on purpose, or jumps up out of nowhere and scratches me. She usually does this whenever I wake her up and want to play with her. I've also taught my cat a few things myself. For example, when i go into the kitchen I say: "Come here I'm gonna give you some Gourmet tuna flakes (this fancy cat food, lol)" and then she comes running, because she understands what I'm gonna give to her. She also knows the word 'jump'. For examples I can say 'jump' once and she'll jump on the chair, the sofa.....or wherever I ask her to.

I think so. After having a dog and a cat for along time, yes they understand, and what is scary is when the animals talk to each other, and both want food at the same time.

I dont think for 1 second that household pets ie Dogs,Cats,Budgies etc can understand spoken words.Final..I Do however feel that they associate voice tones with feel good/bad times eg. I told a Dog that if not careful I. be makin a move on his *****,and when I said it in a nice calming tone he wagged his tail etc. but then its possible he was tryin to dump her anyway. Answer is No,,,

Sorry about your cat but getting back to the question. I think that they can pick out the meaning of certain ones. Such as their name or come here. Simple used often ones.

I believe some animals can! I think my dog and cats know what I'm saying! It is kind of freaky!

I thik that some animals can recognise bits of speech because of routine. My dog responds to the words car, mommy, dinner, walk and other things. He also is afrid of snowmen and shrubery.
