ever notice how almost all left handers have an uppercut swing, but very few righties do? the anatomy is the same so i am not sure why.....might it have something to do with facing more right handed pitchers growing up?

I hit both ways and have some ideas. Remember that we do use both hands to hit a ball.
--- Children are usually taught right handed first. Some left handed batters switch over much later. I would argue that left handers usually have learned a smoother technique.
--- Running to first base is different for left handers. Nothing is in their way and they have a shorter distance. They can often get hits by just slapping at the ball.
--- Left handers may swing with a little less power. In our right handed society we use our right hands a little more.
