i am a beginner. i just started to play spades. i dont understand how to calculate bags. i know that every 10 bags will deduct your team score by 100. and bag = overtricks.
i got this from somewhere, if a team bids 5 tricks, and wins 7 tricks, they have 2 extra points. but if they wins 8 tricks, they have 3 extra points but lose 100 point also cuz they have 10 bags already. i dont see how they get 10 bags. whats the formula?

I am guessing that in the example you are reading from, the scoring team had bags from a previous hand. Each overtrick in a hand is one bag. This count of bags accumulates as hands are played. Once the bag total reaches ten, the team scores -100. Overtricks are not the only way to accumulate bags, either. If a player bids nil, then every trick that player takes is a bag, regardless of whether it ends up being an overtrick or not.

the 2 extra points= 2 sandbags bags add up every round untill you get 10 and then you lose 100 points and bags reset to zero thats why you want to bid right you might get your 52 points but if those 2 extra bags = 10 than you lose 100
