I had a question on formal wear. I know pretty much any shirt will go with black pants for the most part, but I'm having trouble on teh other color pants such as navy blue and brown in particular. Is there a some type of guidelines to follow when buying dress shirts for those types of pants

1] black pants go with almost everything, except brown [ unless its a print with black and brown ] Wear black shoes!
2] navy - goes great with all blues, greens, purples, whites;
and some reds [ with a blue tint such as pink or burgundy ], and all yellows except golden yellows. Wear black or navy shoes!
3] brown - goes with all browns from ivory, beige, caramel, to chocolate; oranges from peach to rust, tomato [ yellow tint ]
red, and all yellows. Wear brown [ dark ] shoes!
Also - match your belt to the pants, the shoes, or the shirt.
Wear a tie with the colors of the shirt and jacket, or shirt and pants.
Take a chance and try on colors you haven't worn before. Bring a well-dressed friend. [ the salespeople get comissions, so tell you everything looks good. ]
