About a couple of weeks ago she started getting the DEPO shots. The day she got it it made her period go off. But then it came back on and has been spotting for almost three weeks now. A lot of people told her that the DEPO shot would make her period go off but it seems to have made her period worse. Does anyone have any solutions as to what she should do? Has this happened to anyone you know?

I did get your private msg. Irregular, heavy, or no bleeding are common side effects of depo. After a year of use, many women sto; having periods, and lack of a periods becomes increasingly common with longer use. However, as this has been going on for three weeks now, I would have her mention this to her doctor. Typically any bleeding or even spotting that lasts for 10 or more days needs to be evaluated by a doctor to determine the cause. It's possible that a hormonal imbalance is occurring. In this case her doctor would check her levels via blood test.

She shouldnt worry. This is fairly common with the DEPO shot. I also like another person posted spotted for a long time during the first few months on it. I an tell yo that i have been on this for 3 years now and i do no get my period at all. I did gain weight on it though, so she should stay active as much as she can. Exercising also helps her body adjust to the shot. If she is really worried, she should call her healthcare provide and ask. The spotting is usually normal. If you think about it, her body just got a shot of major hormones!

i was on the depo shot and i spotted/bled for a month straight then id be off for three months, the shot reacts different ways to different body types and it takes a while for your body to get used to it so your period might change up.

Yes, My 14 year old friend had hers for 3 months, then didnt get it for 6 months. she said it was the worst 3 months, but the best three months, her body is probably confused, I personally dont think its normal or healthy to trick ur body of its natural Cycle.

Everyone responds differently to the different varieties of birth control. It is best for her to check with her doctor to be evaluated as to why she is having that problem. There are other similar birth control drugs that may work for her. Remember that everyone is different. Good luck to her.
