What did you find among their belongings that surprised you the most?
I found an envelope in my mom's drawer that had a bunch of what looked like lines of poetry scribbled on it. The way she put me down for writing poetry, I never expected to find something like that. I also found a large nutcracker from the Phillipines or somewhere over there; it was in the shape of a nude woman with quite large, very explicitly made boobs. The legs were the cracker part--my dad liked tasteless unusual things like that, lol.

I found a picture key chain of me and my dad taken years ago in Vegas, it was clipped to the inside of his brief case. Now I have it on my bulletin board in my office. It made me feel so good to know he cherished the memories as much as I did and still do. And, that he carried that picture with him to meetings when he traveled.
My mom is still living. But we moved her out of the house and put it up for sale. There were too many memories for her there.

My best friends mother died and he was left to go through everything. He first called my mother and told her he had found her journal. Then he called my mother back and aske her if she kne what his mom had hated his wife. Then he called back a little while later and told her he had found a vibrator. Certainly made me clean my house out. You never know when you migh go unexpectedly.

I found in my dads night stand a fathers day card I had given him when I was 4 years old. And now I have the card..it gives me a warm feeling....

I found small amounts of money every where ...{My Mom }She was the last to go . It was a very sad time and I looked around and whAt we have is very small for a Life time of living,,,,so sad

My kids say they're just going to burn the house to the ground when we die. Too much sh*t to go through. I feel sorry for them.

I'm really sorry to hear about that... my condolences...but when my dad died, I don't remember finding anything that really shocked me.
