To make a long story short, I got a Saturday School which is a 4 hour detention for ditching school. I feel really bad though, not because of what I did, but because I didn't trust my instincts. What do you do when you feel guilty about something?

Looks to me like you have already taken the first step...you have admitted that you made a mistake; you feel appropriately badly for the action and now it is up to you to do what ever you can to fix the situation. In this case Saturday School.

Some mistakes we make (you will in time) there is no making up for. This is why you should ALWAYS (yes there is that word!) listen to your intuition/instincts/heart. The mistakes that you cannot make up for are usually painful lessons. I wish for you that none of your errors of humanity cost you friendships or relationships!

Good luck in your life! Nana

Sometimes we do things to feel guilty. Being in touch with our instincts even though why we do not really understand except that we can no longer sustain the constant repression of so much force and we feel so guilty. Yet we had so much fun doing it...

The best thing to do when you are feeling guilty is to make amends for whatever you may have done and just get on with your life as you always have and don't make the same mistake again.I did the same thing when I was your age and I know how you feel, but just hang in there ,its really not that big of an issue.and keep looking up .

Learn from it, forgive yourself and promise yourself that you won't make the same mistake again. Learning to trust your instincts takes time because we always seem to second guess ourselves. Also, take a look at why you didn't listen....was it peer pressure? Don't fall into that trap. Listen to yourself and your instincts and you will be much better off. Forgive yourself!

There are going to be times that you don't listen to your gut, and you end up in trouble. It's okay, because everyone screws up in life. Constantly. Just keep it in mind next time and trust your instincts.

Guilt is not a good emotion for me. I freak out and worry about things. I don't really do anything, except perhaps apologize, but I internalize it, and I shouldn't. It's unhealthy.

what i do when i feel guilty is i just pause a second and stop time to think about the situation, i think about the reason i did it, what made it wrong, what i should have done, and if it was worth it... once you ask yourself questions about the situation and you analyze it thoroughly, then will you get over it, and be able to relax a bit longer...

RUN AND HIDE!.!.!.!. But it never works, I do it all the time and I never learn. It never works to run & hide! Inevitably I end up seeking forgiveness, from the party I've hurt, and from the Almighty.
That always works.(when will I ever learn eh?)

Tell your teachers that you're sorry. Then, tell yourself that you're sorry. You have to forgive yourself and learn from your own mistakes. Just promise yourself and others that it won't happen again.
