People have to fill in forms attesting to their income and number of family members. Lying is a really bad idea.
But you do not hand over your paycheck to the gov't. just the paycheck stubs.
I remember that in 1980 we had some young enlisted men in my Army unit who were married with 3-4 kids - they qualified for (and got) food stamps.

Yes. The problem is sometimes they don't have enough to live on so they are stuck doing what they have to do to eat. Things can get pretty bad. Food usually runs out before it is time for more food stamps.

Of course they are, but we all know that recipients sometimes work 'under the table' and only report that which can be tracked. It sucks, but that's the way it is. Arrrggghhh.

yeah probably ....but why would they do it they are struggling as it is so if they can make a little money on the side why not
