I don't know what the 'point' of death is, besides that is the natural path of all living things, as well as the great equalizer. Whether you are rich, poor, smart, or dumb, good or bad, in the end it doesn't matter, because all of us die and are in the end have the same fate.
I also do not know the point of dying early...again, I do not think there is a point. Maybe there is, but I don't know, and I think it is good to not know everything. We spend our entire lives having things explained to us, and being conditioned to think that everything has to happen for a reason, when it doesn't, and death is the reminder of that. It brings us to our knees and reminds us how extremely vulnerable we are, how we cannot and will never know everything.

But I also understand your question on a personal level too since I've watched a couple of loved ones die before my eyes and I for years it has made me think about death and what's the point of it all, etc.. I still grapple with it and cry and get angry and sad and go through so many emotions about it.
We live and death doesn't really touch our spheres until we lose someone or something we love dearly, only then do we question and have it become a theme. I don't think this is a bad thing, I think it is painful, yes, but it is also important, because there's nothing quite like death to get us thinking of life. The two go hand in hand, and there would not be one without the other.
I don't mean to sound too esoteric or philosophical, these are simply my own thoughts and conclusions so far to my own personal experiences.

Why should you breath? These are questions that there are no meaningful answers to because there is no real alternative. As soon as you come up with a cure for death, or something to do as an alternative, (body transplant, brainwave transplant, some way where you get to choose how you are reincarnated) this question may become relevant. Until then, the relevant questions are:

How do I fill my life with meaning?

How do I make the most of the time I have in this existence?

The only point to dying is that it is a transition. You either did what you were supposed to do while you were alive, or you didn't. If you got it done, then you move on to the next thing. If you didn't get it done, then you either go back and do it again, or you get trashed. Nobody knows, but neither consequence is pretty, and one of them is downright ugly. So life is pretty much like any other dead end job. Nobody gets out of here alive, so get the job done, punch your clock, get on to the next thing or somebody or something may decide that you are of no use to anybody.

Some people believe that you get judged when you die. Some people believe that you get put into a big holding area and you wait until the next opportunity to fill some kind of vessel. It might be a bug or a bear or the next up and coming congressperson. Some people believe that once you go around once, that's all there is. Boom, you're done. Get off the planet and make room for the next batch!

No matter which way you look at it however, there is no sense in wasting what you've got, or blowing whatever slim chance you may or not get to move up the food chain. The point of death is to check out knowing that you did everything you could possibly do to fill up that life you had. You might even leave a spare thought or two for the next generation to build on. You might leave something for yourself if you do come back. The point of dying is to make it significant to someone, by making your life mean something before it happens. Hope this helps.

Death is absolutely necessary for there to be life! Without death on this planet the plant and animal kingdoms would reproduce so as to fill every space on it making any life impossible. Why should you die? Because it is the natural thing to do. You age from the moment you are born and to age and die gracefully should be one of lifes goals. There is no gain, if you mean by gain material or knowledge gain, in dying young

Life is the purpose of life. It has been staring you in the face all this time; live it, enjoy it and it may last beyond the grave. Life after death is the hope of all conscious beings but for the same reasons death is necessary for life, life beyond the grave can not be as some religions describe it i.e. without death, without suffering or pain or complete and utter bliss. It must be something entirely unlike life here and we can't now understand how it might be. Still it is the conscious or unconscious hope of all living beings.

The point of dying is to make way for your progeny or posterity. They say suicide is a selfish act but wanting eternal life seems to me to be selfish.

Have a good life, good health, peace and love!

There is no gain in dying early, your going to die anyway, why speed up the process. The point of death is to humble people, if everyone lived forever think of what the world would be.

the point of death is to end a never ending cycle of pain in life. The only reason why you would want to die is if the pain has become unbearable for you, and you just give it all up. There is no gain in dying early, or is there? Ask the dead.

There is no point in dying early and none of us knows when early is. The point of living is to see what is coming next. We all know death is at the end. "It's the in between bits that are interesting."

The point of death is rebirth. The decomposition of the body is food for other life forms which works its way up the chain to eventually nourish another human being.

There's no point in living, but death is reasonable. Considering there is no afterlife, would you want to live forever or would you get bored 500,000,000 centuries from now or would you want to die and not put up with life. There are a lot of people in this world that would want to be put out of their misery because of depression, grief of family loss, or other serious issues. Many people see death as an escape from pain.

Death is a big topic, but I get your point. Sometimes we need to face our mortality in order to really give ourselves perspective on what we should be living for. Death is the great equalizer that touches everyone eventually. A young death always seems more tragic. The greatest waste is a life not surrendered to a loving God who already gave His own Son for us so that we could experience life both now and after the grave. Jesus came to give us life abundantly.

dying is an inevitable part of life, you can't take the two apart. the question of 'why should i die?' has a simple answer: you don't have a choice, you will die. we will all die. the point of death is to appreciate life. personally, i don't really think that there is a 'gain' in dying, we die when it is our time to die.

Dying is a necessary part of the life cycle. None of us know when our time will come. We go when it's time. It would be wrong to go before our time. It is a crime against nature, as well as against oneself to commit suicide.

It is tragic when someone dies young. It is hard to understand how life could be so cruel. It is hard to find any comfort or solace any time we lose a loved one, especially unexpectedly in their youth. Perhaps the only comfort is that death is not the end. When we die, our soul continues to live in the afterlife. We will be reunited with our loved ones in Heaven.
