What are the pros and cons about each of these bikes? How reliable are yamaha, honda, and kawasaki? What are the common problems with these types of bikes? How long do sports bikes last(miles/kms) when in general use? What should I know before getting one? how would you compare these bikes with each other? If you were to get one of them, which one would you choose and why? Thanks to the answerers... :)

These bikes are very reliable if you take care of them. My last R1 had 35,000 miles when I sold it and it still ran as new, I could see it doing 100,000 no problem. They're all good bikes pick the one you like the looks of, because on the street 5lbs here 5hp there is not going to make any difference. I have the R1, I like the looks of it the best plus they have the best leg room of the liter bikes.

You sound like a beginner. Stay far, far away from 1000cc sport bikes as your first bike. It's just not very wise.

Take the MSF rider course, get your license, buy your gear, and buy a small or mid-weight bike. NOT an R6, GSX-R600, or ZX-6. Something like a used SV650 would be great. Ride with knowledgeable friends, and ride smart. Wear a helmet and the proper gear. Get to know your abilities. Put on a few thousand miles. Do some research on other bikes.

THEN decide if a 1000cc sportbike is right for you. I don't know what the answer to that question will be then, but I'm damn sure I know what the answer is now.

Ride safe.

First things first, the R1, ZX10R and CBR1000 are not beginner bikes. You have to crawl before you walk. Try going with an yamaha R6. Depending on where you live, you can have fun during the riding season.

I dont even recommend a Yamaha r6 either. that is a super sport as well.

if you're a new rider, look for an OLDER (ie 95-2000) 600 cc or 500cc bike, as htye are less torquie than their newer counterparts. That is if you dont want to start off on a 250 Ninja (which Is what I reccommend for all new riders)

Honda CBR F3
Yamaha FZR 400 or 600
Suzuki Katana 600
Suzuki GS500e

Well, since no one really answered your question, you may want to visit http://www.bikez.com and look at the specs for those models. Also there are some (limited) user forums for comments and questions.

I would rate all four Japanese manufacturers (Kawi, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha) approximately the same as far as reliability and design. The three bikes you have selected are all going to perform similarly with relatively minor differences.

The zx-10 is ugly as sin.. I wouldn't buy one for that reason alone. so it'd be a toss up between the R1 and the 1000RR. I'd go with the 1000RR cause I'm a Honda fan. Both bikes have more power than you need.

The ZX10 are a extra appropriate bike yet they used fairly garish paint codes on that style expecially the fairway. i might decide for the Kwak yet might respray it silver with black trim. Or dark purple. one in all my acquaintances has finished this and it seems magnificent and now extra like a ZX14. Theyre the two good all rounder motorcycles and take care of properly.
