Everyday my life is the same. Work, eat, sleep. I wouldn't kill myself but what's wrong with being ready to die? Nothing is going to change, I have no purpose so why should I have to stay here?

The truth is, from the day we are born, we are getting ready to die. Why hasten it? You only get one life and so why not live it? I'd hang around, you never know what might happen when you turn every corner.

We all get up every morning, get dressed, go to work, come home and eat dinner from the same old dishes. Wash the dishes, watch TV and go to bed and do it all over again. As mundane as it all seems, it's the stuff that happens in between all of this that is the real joy.

To have a stranger offer assistance or even a smile on a gray day can be uplifting. Sitting in a park and watching people go by, or even striking up a conversation with someone can give you an indescribable high without the use of drugs. Try to be kinder to yourself for a change. Take yourself out to a movie and dinner. Buy yourself something you've always wanted, but don't necessarily need. Take yourself for a walk down that street you've never gone. Did you ever think of changing your job, or where you live?

Remember one most important thing and that is that you matter to someone. Someone cares about you enough that if you were gone, they'd miss you.

Take care and God bless.

The 'idea' that there must be a point and the you must 'search' for a purpose was forced on you by your parents and society. The pressure to search for this causes a significant amount of stress to you as a living organism. Your body has absolutely no concern or need for any idea of a purpose or meaning. The 'living' is all that is there. You are everything you will ever be and have everything you will ever need for life in this world. The rest is living. The idea of 'searching for purpose' is the great lie and the folks that peddle all of the 'answers' are the frauds. There is no answer as there is no problem.

You are the author of your fate. You choose how to live your life. Make the most of it. Change your attitude. Look at the positive. Live with passion. Love yourself, others & the world. Do things you enjoy. Appreciate the beauty of the world. Don't take it for granted. I hate my job but I know it's just my living, not my life. My life is what I do when I'm not at work: being with loved ones, singing, playing music, writing songs, painting, watching movies, snuggling with my cat, gardening, taking a walk in the woods, etc etc. The good things in my life make the drudgery easier to bear. Life isn't fun 24-7 but you put up with the annoying things & look forward to the good things. We all have a purpose. Don't lose hope. If you find your life boring & monotonous then take a risk. Do something different. Something you've always wanted to do. Have fun! Life is too short not to enjoy it. Your life can change as soon as you decide to change it. I used to be negative too but I learned to be positive & everything has changed for the better.

Best of luck. Take care.

:)

Most men (people) live lives of quiet desperation. Thoreau. If you are not one of the lucky ones who see some devine reward then you must find some goal in life - some future to work toward. If you have no purpose then find one. Why is nothing going to change? Everything changes - all the time. Even if the goal is to retire and live a comforable life somewhere you would like to be - it is something to dream of, to plan for. When you reach that goal and if you find it isn't everything you expected then find another goal at that time. The future for most of us is the purpose for life.

I think that we have all thought like you do right now and it appears as though things don't change, but they do. Every second, minute, hour, day, week, year......and just as you we have all thought that there was no purpose, but all that changes in time. Your duty as a human being is to be observant of the changes that happen ever so subtly and determine the course of action that gives purpose to your every choice you make. This, you will find will give new meaning to everything you do. It is up to you and you alone to navigate through your life in a meaningful manner. JUST WAIT and you will see.

See that is just the point ...you are here for a purpose. If we were indeed just like monkeys perhaps you would be correct.
Look around you there are so many choices. We sometimes make the wrong ones...but they are changeable. Step out on your way to work or an your way home, be helpful to someone, start a conversation, or just allow someone to do something nice for you ...I would if I were to pass by you and you had a need.

You do not know what you are talking about. From what you wrote I understand that you are healthy and you do not know when you will die. You have wonderful life, I would say. In order to estimate right what you have, you need to see someone sick with cancer who knows "the day of his funeral". I have seen someone extremely dear to me there, and I wish all those people could be alive to enjoy life, to eat, to sleep, do dream, to work......all the "boring stuff" you wrote. They would love that.

I hope you change your mind and long for life instead of death, since you eventually get what you long for.

Introduce some changes to your life.

Go to the beach, look at the ocean and you'll understand why you need to live.

Good luck and I wish you all the best. You are just depressed and you needed someone to bring you back to reality. I hope I could help.

Ask yourself what would make you happy? You are obviously not happy with what you do at work. Go back to school taking some classes will get you to meet new people who have things in common with you. Join a gym. Excercise helps reduce depression. See a Dr. there is medication out there to help you overcome the blues. It may be hormonal.

I wanna know where "Erikson" came up with this:

Stage Seven Middle Adulthood: 40-65 years, generative vs. stagnation, parenting;

I suppose that means we live to the age of 80-130 years.. that is.. if "Middle Adulthood" is really 40-65 years..

I think "Middle Adulthood" is more like 30-45 years..

And.. there truly is no point of life.. it just "is".. take it or leave it..

The whole point is, there is no point. That's the beauty of it. It is always the beginning of the rest of your life. If there was something specificly laid out to be done, then life would be even more mudane. I guess the point is to find things in every moment that mean something, or make you feel something. That's when you are alive and not just living.
