At least 80-100GB. Upgrading from an 80 GB to a 250 GB (170 GB more) at Dell costs $250 more (a rip off).

You can buy a 500 GB external hard drive for $125; for the cost of up upgrading from an 80 GB to a 250 GB at (170 GB more storage) you can buy 2 external drives and have 1000 GB of external storage.

Only buy models rated 5 stars by a lot of people.

External Drives: 250 GB $95; 500 GD $125

Get a really big hard drive. The biggest laptop hard drive you can get right now, i think, is 250 GB. Don't get anything less than 160 GB because you will need lot of space for all the things you want to do.

1GB to 2GB is plenty for most applications nowdays. You can also turn up your virtual ram by doing this--click start--control panel--system--advanced--performance--advanced--virtual memory--initial size2046(is what I have) max size8184. This turn your hardrive into virtual ram when you need it. If you have free space--most people do nowdays.
