JD Salinger. He would hate every minute of it, but I would get to brag that I was able to talk to him! :-)

Ed Gwynn - He is tall . He played Herman Munster on the Adams Family And could lift me to the trap door in the ceiling. He writes children stories . Maybe our experience would find it's way into his next book. No claustrophobia here
Happy Caving Carroll
John would be my second, He Wrote the book .
According to John

Do they have to still be alive? Because ohmygod, I'd definitely love to get stuck in an elevator with Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide). That would be so unbelievably awesome. He'd probably start rattling off random facts about railways in Russia and rhinos. I'd just stand there in awe of him (quite literally, considering he was 6'5" and I'm about 5'1").

Stephen King - I read Carrie when it came out (I was around 10 or 11 and my mother freaked totally out!) and I've been a fan ever since. I think he will soon (or sooner or later) be recognized as one of the finest word-meisters of our time. Forget the horror genre; he uses words as if they were created to do his bidding!
Except that maybe I could see him being a complete claustrophobe. In that case I would pick Harlan Ellison.

Chuck Palahniuk.
His books [Invisible Monsters, Choke, Diary, and Haunted to name a few] are twisted, incredibly genius, nauseating, disturbing, and funny.
If he's anything like his books, that would be the best elevator to possibly be stuck in =)

I would want to get stuck with James Patterson, so that I could ask him why he ended Maximum Ride 3 the way he did.
He left the book completely open, but then in the book makes references that the third book is the last one.
That's my reason. It's crazy. . . but true!

Stephen King, because he is pure genious. I would love to pick his brain. I would also love to hear background on how he became inspired to write some of the things he did, what he was like as a kid, etc.

Jane Austen.
It would be such a treat to talk with her and find out her inspirtations for some of her greatest novels. For example, if one of them was based on her own life. I love her books.
