No that's not true!! The only time it makes a difference is in late pregnancy an donly if they are on the pressure points that cause contractions.

There are pressure points to the uterus in the ankle. The feet are loaded with pressure points for all over the body. When you are pregnant everything is more sensitive. If the person giving the massage is not thoroughly knowledgeable in pressure points there is a possibility that they can put too much pressure on something and cause trouble with the pregnancy. Does it actually cause miscarriage? Who really knows. Like many other things...some women get them and have no problems and others have experienced tragedy. If the person giving the massage just does a light rub and doesn't dig in you should be fine.

I got a pedicure when I was about 11-12 weeks pregnant. I had never heard of this before. I had no problem other than the guy from the pedicure shop took off my old nail polish and asked me if I ever washed my feet!! (FYI--I do wash my feet, I just don't give myself pedicures and I leave my nail polish on until it grows out)

Anywho, all of these things that we aren't allowed to do when we are pregnant reminds me of that new country song about how "we were born to moms who smoke and drank" and were allowed to drink out of the garden hose, etc. I don't know the words but I can hear the song in my head.

There are so many dos and donts now. I say just use good judgement, don't over indulge in anything, and relax. Last night I went to the movies and they wouldn't wand me with the metal detector because I'm pregnant.

Certain types of masge stimulate differen parts of the body. I had a full body massage when pregnant, i was lucky to find an ex-midwife who had turned to massage instead of midwifery.

Check thoroughly before you go ahead.

no scientific reason why its bad for you , if anything i got my hubby to do it for me and it made a hell of a difference , especially when your ankles start to swell and its relaxing, if in doubt ask your midwife , im mum to a 11 week baby and i had plenty of feet massages , maybe the salon where you went to meant to say certain oils can harm you , i was told this when i went for a facial, as i said ask your midwife , i have 2 health kids and i didnt miscary them.

also avoid : Jaccuzzi, sauna, steam room ,lambs/goats,sheep,cats poo(all poo!) blue cheese soft cheese, pate, bloody/rare meat ,sushi, runny eggs, raspberry tea, essential oils, all medicines (except paracetamol) unless prescribed by Dr who knows you are pregnant.
Honestly I must have forgotten something, Peanuts? or is that only not to give them to the baby under 5 years??
Don't dye your hair in the first trimester - check with Dr therafter. Avoid using garden pesticides and weedkillers
: and these are just the ones I know about!
We could do with a reference list of all these things to avoid in one place.
