Yes they have, the Treiste naval bathyscaphe from the USA reached the bottom on January 23rd 1960 with two men onboard. 10,916 meters (35,813 ft) was officially verified and achieved by the submarine.
They apparently saw 30cm sized sole and some shrimp.

I saw a TV show on that topic just a few weeks ago, yes, a submersible with 2 aboard went to the bottom of the Mariana Trench back in the 1960's. That seems to have been the only time humans ever visited there. Interesting question!

yes, a submersible called the trieste i think. there was also a "baythesphere" (sp) in the late 1930's tethered by steel cable. amazing stuff in the 1900's. and we lived through much good history there. the birth of movies, radio, radar,tv,aircraft, space, moon, mars, superman, the american way, now look ahead to this century. maybe if we don't get really stupid and blow ourselves to ---- we can get to the heights and lows of the universe we live in. there is so much yet to accomplish in the sciences and humanities, literature.look at how old man is,,,and the printed book is only about 500 yrs old (not including alexandrian library) man is so brilliant and stupid at the same time!
