gramer problem. Look at this sentence.

I watched the blurred figure of my ex boyfriend jog down the driveway.

Is it correct the way it was or should it be,

I watched the blurred figure of my ex boyfriend jogging down the driveway. ?????????

The both sentences seems to mix past and present.

How about substituting 'jogged'.

I'm assuming (from the first sentence) that you are talking in present time?
Therefore I would say-
"I watched the blurred figure of my boyfriend as he jogged down the driveway."
When stating it in your original sentence, you have to understand that you are watching the BLURRED FIGURE...not the boyfriend.
So, in doing so you can't say that you watched one thing as another thing did something else. You have to tie it together....By adding "as he" you are connecting the blurred figure and the boyfriend...
Hope this helps!
Good luck.

I am not a native speaker, but when I read the first answer I thought I had to say something: to me, both sentences are correct, although I would favour the first one (and please DON'T use "jogged"). I think (from what I remember of my grammar lessons in English) that they don't have exactly the same meaning, or perspective, but I could not tell you more, and so will let native speakers answer you more precisely.

Edit: I think I have found the answer to your question in this very good BBC site:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/grammar/learnit/learnitv214.shtml

(very interesting for me, too). So, apparently, you can use both forms, according to what you want to say exactly.

The verb 'jog' has to agree with the subject 'figure'. Therefore, 'jog' is the correct word to use in this sentence.

I suggest keeping your first example, but add 'as he jogged.'

Additonal tips:

Grammar is spelled correctly, not gramer.
Never use more than one question mark or one exclamation point at the end of a sentence.

It depends on what context it is used in, I'm not sure about the first one but the second one has to be used in present text.
