Not if you offer a better summer school alternative if he passes. Check out the summer school options at the local community college for more advanced courses.
He can then skip ahead courses at school, be ahead of the curve and be on top of things.
If it's summer school he likes, capitalize on it. Research has shown that there are plenty of people who respond much better to a more adult college atmosphere than the highly restrictive, regimented, petty school atmosphere.

summer school is always easier...but no its not logical...you're wasting your time by doing the course twice...get it right the first time and you dont have to sit in class during the summer
