Hey I heard a myth about when you celebrate your 5 year anniversary. I heard that your suppose to give wood? why wood? What is that suppose to symbolize? (This is a serious question, so keep your head out of the gutter people!)

There is actually a material for each anniversary. I think the first is paper, 50th is silver and 60th gold. How it all got started I've no idea but check the library or even a wedding boutique. There should be someone in either of those locations who can point you in the right direction, if you don't get a website or full list from this question.

You have to remember that some of these myths are tens of thousands of years old.. And giving someone wood for their fire meant in those olden days security and warmth which was a very good things back in those day... Also any marriages lasting 5 years was in itself very rare because of early death among couples. Death by giving birth, death from starvation.. Crop failure.. and disease.... So keeping someone warm was really something good to look foward to..........................
