I have a DELL 4300 (Pentium 4 2.66MHz) with 512Mb memory and XP SP2 installed.
I would like to know if adding another 512Mb would improve my images and video processing performance.

It won't help directly but it does take a tiny bit of strain off your processor which in turn takes a tiny bit of strain off your graphics card.

If you're looking to improve your grahpics, I'd suggest upgrading your video card first. Then if that's not enough, yes toss in the extra 512 :).

You might be better off by adding a video card. Check to see if you need agp-pci-or pci express. Go to pricewatch.com for comparison shopping. they have good prices and sometimes free shipping. I have 1 1/2 GB ram but my pc doesnt use more than 512 very often, as I have a monitor that tells me how much Im using.

no, it might make your computer faster, but it will not improve the performance of your video, you need to get a better video card to improve screen performance, 512 mb on a computer is very low, get the 512 mb card and add it to your computer, also get a higher graphics card like nvidia, get it at www.deals2buy.com
