I was also going to say Chiropractor or perhaps a Podiatrist;
a counselor is not necessarily a "Doctor" because they can also be Social Workers with a Master's Degree.

"Dr." is not a suffix. It is an honorific. A suffix is an attachment at the end of a word.

The title "Doctor" can be used with your name if you get an academic degree: Doctor of Philosophy [PhD], Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Law, Doctor of Dentistry, of Veterinary Medicine....the PhD can be in various fields, such as Literature, Psychology, History....And, sure, they call Doctors of Chiropractic "Dr." So not all doctors are medical doctors.

It takes a lot of work, whatever you get a doctorate in. Even chiropractors have to do a lot of study. But so far, that seems as though it would be easiest.

Being a chiropractor is the equivalent of printing out your doctorate certificate from Microsoft Word and calling yourself a doctor. It's not a real degree, and it's pretty much quackery, like a 'degree' in reflexology or homeopathic medicine. It's a waste and it costs lives - you wouldn't believe how many chiropractors in my town claim they can cure cancer and AIDS by adjusting your spine. They can't, of course.

If you want to be a doctor, the shortest path I know of us a doctorate in pharmicutical science - a PharmD - that's about 6 years of college total. Medical doctor is 8, doctor of philosophy is more like 10.
