I just started a new job a week ago as a receptionist and I've made a few mistakes this past week. I keep worrying that I will get fired. What do you think?

EVERYONE makes mistakes on their first week on the job! At my work we just hired a new receptionist, and she has of course made a few mistakes. There are just SO many rules, and things you have to remember, it is impossible to learn them all within the first week. She has been with us for a month now, and my boss has made up her mind that she is perfect for us. Even though she hasn't learned ALL of the ropes yet, she is a very fast learner, and she fits in so well with the rest of us employees. Her great personality is what made us decide she was the right one. So don't worry, you will be fine. Just do your best, and keep smiling! :)

You should be fine. Most employers have a "grace period," which is usually about 90 days, so you can learn the ropes, and ease into your position. No one expects perfection immediately. Hang in there kiddo. You'll be okay. ; )

No. Don't listen to these pessimists. The company knows you will make mistakes. Unless someone has spoken to you, don't worry about it. Relax and try your best.

Highly doubtful. When you start a new job, it is not expected you will know everthing. As long as you learn from your mistakes and don't repeat them you will be OK

Ask your boss for feedback and make changes accordingly. Bosses like when you ask for feedback or help rather than pretending everything is going great.
