One of my friends use to smoke & the way they quite smoking was chewing alot of gum. Plus my dad use to smoke. But the way he quite smoking was cold turkey. So when you feel like to have a smoke why don't you try chewing some gum instead. That will work.

I quit smoking 49 days ago. I did it cold turkey. The 1st 3 days were the worst. I walked and drank water and ate of lot of red hots candy. you just have to make up your mind to do it. I still get a craving now and then but it got a lot easier. There is a great website for help. Quitnet.com. You get a lot of support on that site 24 hours a day. People just like you very nice and going thru it together. Every day they email you on how many days you have gone since your quit, how many cigarettes you havent smoked and how much money you saved. And the most importand how many days and hours you add to your life for each minute you don't smoke. Good Luck.

It is good to chew gum. So it can keep your mind off smoking. Find a gum you like and chew it.

You can also get the mentos kind of candy that helps iwth smoking. It is not really medicine. If medicine is too expensive than you should try this. It is not expensive.

Hope this helps. And I am glad that you are trying to stop. Good Luck!!

Mainly you have to have your mine set that this is what you are really going to do. That is 3/4 of the battle. Next, there are a lot of alternatives to meds. Mints of any kind including mint tea makes the taste of a cigarette taste terrible. I have also heard that eating black licorice makes the taste of the cigarette taste terrible and curbs the need for one. Drinking apple juice and taking hot baths helps get the toxins of smoking out of your body much quicker and reduces your desire for smoking. Also a hypnotist can "brain wash" you in to quit smoking. But, don't go to a group session because that did not work for me. Neither did any of the above. Once upon a time I had quit for almost ten years. The first three days were the worse. When I decided to quit I made sure that I always had a cigarette nearby and carried them in my purse for over a year. I tried to quit when I ran out and that drove me nuts. When I did quit they were there at hand but I didn't want any, I did it cold turkey. I figured after a year if I did decide to smoke it would be so stale that it would really "cure" my urge. I don't know why it is so much harder to quit now but it is. If you find something that really works for you I hope you will share it with the rest of us smokers! Good luck.

truth is, I don't know if that's possible. But if you're gonna stop a vice, you MUST MUST MUST have support. I'm talking about a group of friends or people going through the same stuff, people that will actually be beside you. if you want to smoke, they'll talk you out of that. they'll congratulate you when you've reached goals. tell all your friends what you're trying to do, that way they won't smoke in front or you and will find a way to help you. best of best luck for you cuz this is such a wise and hard decision, I just gotta congratulate you.

I don't like a lot of those 'stop smoking' patches because all they do is replace one source of nicotine with another.

Your best bet is cold turkey.

Throw away the cigarettes you have left and clean your house well to get the smell of the smoke out.

Take up a hobby or exercise regime to keep your mind occupied.

Keep a pack of gum with you in case you get the urge to put something in your mouth.

Good luck!

The best medicine is determination and will power. Both are entirely natural. Remember, stopping smoking means stopping completely. Don't try tapering off. It won't work.

The best way is cold turkey! Ouch! sounds harsh but the only way . I found holding a pencil or something in hand works. Me , I liked using a slice of carrot cause I'd forget and actually drag on it. Lol not so nice with a pencil. I wish you luck
