Is it easier to get another right away, how do you feel about that?

Everyone is different. Some people swear they'll never get another pet because they don't want to go through that again. I lasted two weeks after my beloved cat died. I read somewhere that the greatest tribute to them is for you to adopt a homeless animal. Getting my new cat (who looks and acts nothing like my other one) really helped in the healing process.

I always say I am never going to get another pet because it hurts so much when one dies. Last time I lasted three months. You'll know when it's time. After Lucy died I got Duchess from the shelter. But Duchess had separation anxiety so bad I finally got her a dog so she wouldn't have to be alone. That worked out really well and when Duchess died I still had Patsy. I thought I would get another dog to keep Patsy company but she seems happy being an only dog. I don't know what I'll do when Patsy dies. Probably be very sad for a while and then realize I need a dog. It's important to remember that no animal can take the place of another. Animals are as individual as people and you might still miss your late pet even while you are creating happy memories with your new one.

Personally I feel ready right away (I feel like there are too many animals out there without good homes,) but I've certainly known and understood others who've waited years after the death of an especially beloved pet to get another.

It will continue to be difficult to get over the loss of a pet, but having another one will help. If nothing else, it keeps your mind off the loved on you lost. You will have to spend your energy taking care of, playing with, and loving the new pet and will have less time to think of the one you lost.

I'm sorry for your loss, I know it's difficult and some people don't understand how hard it is to lose a pet.

It is way easier to get another right away. I never want to until I see that cute little puppy or kitten. It makes me feel better, but I never forget my old pet.

I say It's easy get other right away, since pets are not people to love and receive the same kind of love back.

Love it's a decision along with a responsibility; love when you are ready to take it.

No, it takes some time. Dont rush it because then you may feel as though your just replacing him/her. After my kitten ran away and never came back, my mom didnt get over it for a very long time. When we got a new cat from the shelter she was really upset for about a week (she felt we were replacing our other cat). Healing after a death takes a long time even if you dont feel the pain at first, it will hit.

I think that. with anything, if there is a loss it takes time to grieve. When you begin remembering your beloved pet with smiles instead of tears and sadness, then you are ready to begin considering looking for a new pet. Never a replacement, just another wonderful addition to your family.

The experts say to wait for 2 weeks, and if you feel you need another pet, get one.
