compass/directional monitor in expedition stuck?

Question

I or my parents have a '97 Eddie Bauer Expedition and it has of course the gas mileage, miles to empty and the compass lists what direction the car is facing or traveling. It is stuck right now on the SE direction and we tried reseting like when you reset the gas mileage and nothing changed. Any help please...

pass a speaker magnet left to rite in front of it,tap if still stuck while still left/right.park truck in southeasterly direction,at least the gauge will be right 25%of the time?

It sounds like the gizmo, a simple iron core wrapped with copper wire with a small iron magnet in the center has fallen apart. Might just need to replace this piece. You have to remember that FORD stands for FIx Or Repair Daily.

I wouldn't waste my time on something that serves no real function.

Check the manual, sometimes you have to drive the car in a certain direction to get those onboard compasses reset
