i highly doubt a government agency would let the masses know about any ETs.
if anything, things would probably go down Independance Day style...

Where else would extra-terrestrial life come from besides outer space?
And do you think that anybody could actually keep a secret of that magnitude for any length of time?

There is no such "real thing" as "the Government", it's simply an organization of regular people who are doing the jobs needed to govern our country. The very notion that if the whole organization were aware of alien life they could even keep it a secret is silly, if you think about it...
Even if "they" didn't want "us" to know, it would get out sooner rather than later!

Sure and why would they be the first to find out ? Most programs looking at and listening to the guy are all private, the government has just about zero effort going on.

simply put, NO they would not.
why would they? They would cause to much "panic" and people would go CRAZY. (most people are not accepting that another species smarter (or dumber) than us exist!)
